Reducing Damage In Transit

Could your packaging be contributing to product damage in transit?

How Much Is Product Damage Really Costing You?

When a product arrives damaged, replacing it is only part of the cost.
Your team has to deal with the customer, prepare and pack another
order, and pay to send it again.

If damage keeps happening, those extra costs and hours soon add up—
especially when you’re already busy.

The packaging can be part of the problem. Products moving inside a box, exposed corners or inconsistent packing can all contribute to damage.

Understanding what’s going wrong helps you work out what needs to
change.

Our free guide, Reducing Product Damage in Transit, covers:
The costs to include when working out what a damaged delivery has cost
you.
Common causes of damage and signs to look for in your own packaging.
Practical changes that can improve protection and make packing easier.

How one manufacturer cut transit damage by more than 85%

Chipped edges. Cracked corners. More replacements to send.

A decorative wall-panel manufacturer we work with was dealing with all three. The panels could move inside the packaging, and vulnerable corners were left exposed.

We redesigned and tested the pack with close-fitting inserts, dedicated corner protection and a better-sized outer box. We also simplified the packing process.

The results:

Product damage: down 85%+

Packing time: 20 minutes → 5 minutes

Two-person daily output: 54 → 216 panels

The same two people could pack four times as many panels each day, with far fewer damaged deliveries to put right.

Could your packaging be causing repeat damage?

If the same corner keeps arriving damaged, or protection depends on who packed the order, it’s worth checking the packaging and the packing method. Our 2-minute Packaging Damage Check takes you through common warning signs to help identify where your current setup needs a closer look. You don’t need technical packaging knowledge. Just think about how your team packs an order and what your customers report when it arrives.

Start the check below.

Packaging designed to reduce damage and make packing easier

At Quickbox, we make bespoke corrugated transit packaging around your product and the way your team works.

We look at where damage happens, how the product fits inside its box and what’s involved in packing it. That helps us work out whether you need a different box size, better protection in a particular area or a simpler packing method.

With design and manufacturing in-house, we can develop and sample changes for you to check with your product. Short runs give you flexibility when it’s time to put those changes into use.

Show us what’s arriving damaged and how you’re packing it now. We’ll help you work out what to change.

UK Packaging EPR

What is the EPR packaging charge?

EPR is a UK Government scheme that makes businesses contribute towards the cost of dealing with household packaging waste.

GOV.UK explains that EPR:
“shifts the end-of-life costs of household packaging waste from taxpayers and local authorities to the producers who place packaging on the UK market”
Read the official EPR guidance on GOV.UK

When Quickbox supplies empty packaging, we are normally responsible for the EPR cost, so an EPR contribution will be added to your order.

The charge may not apply if:

If either of these applies to you, complete our short EPR declaration on the sign up page and we will apply the correct EPR treatment to your account.

The charge helps Quickbox recover the costs we have to pay under the Government’s EPR scheme.
