Printed Packaging Tape Vs Regular Tape

11 January 2024 by
Quickbox Manufacturing Ltd, Lorna Donnelly

Personalised printed packaging tape is one of the best-kept secrets in the world of eCommerce. What better way to increase the exposure for your brand whilst your orders are being shipped? It is a great free marketing tool as your business is being advertised on the packages that you are sending. Customers can also receive a preview of the contents before they even open the parcel which is an added bonus.

Whilst many businesses don’t go back to normal boring tape after opting for a branded version, lots still rely on clear or brown unbranded tape. Let’s have a look at what printed packaging tape is, and how it can help your business.

What is printed tape?

We have already had a look at eCommerce and postal packaging, and how branded packaging can really help to enhance the experience your customers receive. So how can a small bit of tape also make a difference?

Personalised printed tape can also be called logo tape (as you can get your logo printed on it), or personalised mailing tape. You might think that customers simply rip open their boxes to get to the product quickly, and whilst this is true you need to think about the whole unboxing experience. By using printed tape just imagine how much more visually appealing your boxes will look.

Benefits of printed tape

As well as the obvious branding advantages, there are some other reasons you should consider investing in personalised printed tape. To begin with, it is not as expensive as you may think. Our PVC solvent 3 colour print tape starts from as little as £3.22 and that is complete with a matt finish too.

Our custom tape is available in a range of adhesive versions – from standard to low tack or heavy-duty to suit your needs. If you opt for the heavy-duty tape, packaging your parcels will be a lot easier and quicker – you will only need 1 pass of tape to seal your box. This means that you will not only be saving money and time, but when using clear packaging tape these boxes are often more susceptible to theft.

Special uses

Branded tape doesn’t have to be used on every item that you package up if you don’t want to. You could use printed tape to celebrate and announce special events, such as how long you have been in business, or even for a seasonal message. Personalised printed tape is a great, economical way to change your packaging for special events or promotions without having to spend a lot of money on new boxes.

We can supply branded tape

UK Packaging EPR

What is the EPR packaging charge?

EPR is a UK Government scheme that makes businesses contribute towards the cost of dealing with household packaging waste.

GOV.UK explains that EPR:
“shifts the end-of-life costs of household packaging waste from taxpayers and local authorities to the producers who place packaging on the UK market”
Read the official EPR guidance on GOV.UK

When Quickbox supplies empty packaging, we are normally responsible for the EPR cost, so an EPR contribution will be added to your order.

The charge may not apply if:

If either of these applies to you, complete our short EPR declaration on the sign up page and we will apply the correct EPR treatment to your account.

The charge helps Quickbox recover the costs we have to pay under the Government’s EPR scheme.
